OBJECTIVE (broad function, scope and purpose for the position)The Shop Supervisor provides support relating to repair work for all PHEProduct lines and Supervision to all Separation Service Center ShopEmployees. This position provides support to the Order and ShopCoordinators, Shop Team Leads, and to Alfa Laval representatives and endusers. Key areas include, provide support and supervision to the servicecenter employees, provide direct support to outside sales for expeditedrequests and information, and to continually seek ways to improve therepair and MO processes and techniques.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties andresponsibilities):Supervise repair shop operations and workshop employees, request andprovide drawings, research repair history, trouble shoot. Communicatetechnical repair information to workshop and Team Leads and end users.Lead and drive performance of the team and employees by having an activepresence on the shop floor. Continuously works towards capacity planningand training planning of the team members. Determine necessary shopsupplies and tooling and order appropriately. Work with HR and Team ondaily operational issues and support repair growth. Provide Technicalsupport and drawing interpretation for outside vendors and shop duringrepairs. Hold weekly meeting and positive participation in daily ALPScell board meetings and improvement initiatives. (weekly meeting is onhold due to pandemic) Supervise shop safety and ensure shop safetyinspections are complete and employees using proper PPE. Work withmanagement team on Quality and turnaround improvements and other shopprojects. Maintain Employee utilization reporting. Track and reportUpdate US Bank shop supplies account reconciliation and OPTO. Open/closejob folders maintain and track drawings, shop records, vendor PO, SOVand assist with accounting reconciliation. Time record keeping andpayroll. Utilize BPCS programs, Installed Base, SALLY, CAS and OPTO,Sensi etc., to find information and to update modifications made onequipment. Assist with developing and providing repair procedurescovering multiple product lines. Procure Engineering support as requiredand when needed for direction. Review pre-estimates, contract proposals,and competitive bid documents for future repairs of equipment asrequired, proofread documents, quotes, letters as needed. Driveperformance meetings, improvement meetings and related ALPS activities.Be engaged and drive 5S projects, investment requests and processimprovements in all areas.17. Assist with opening IT and technical helpdesk tickets.Responsible for Inventory and parts management assigned and allocated tocost center and jobs.. Perform other duties as directed by Management.May need to make customer site visits as needed to provide technicalsupport and maintain customer repair business.ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS (level of functional responsibility,relationships, level of direction received, ability to initiate work):The Shop Supervisor reports directly to Service Center Manager workswith Order and Shop Coordinators. The Shop Supervisor functions withminimal supervision, works with all Team Members to provide solutions,solve problems, provide a positive customer experience, and to meetKPIs.KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES1.   • Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:Bac elors degree in an Engineering Science or equivalent experiencepreferred
    • Type and Length of Experience:5-10 years hands-on experience with repairing/reconditioning in amanufacturing, job shop or customer service environment desirable.Experience from improvement tools, e g Lean manufacturing (5S, SixSigma, Kaizen)Experience with manufacturing MRP / ERP systems preferredBasics in financials
      • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:Strong Customer Service skillsLeadership and management skillsAbility to read and work from blueprintsAbility to prioritize work and meet deadlinesStrong communication and respectful interpersonal skills both writtenand verbalDemonstrate ability to perform effectively within a team environmentStrong understanding of machining and welding techniquesAbility to work within stressful situationsFundamental knowledge of standard word processing software andspreadsheetsPHYSICAL and ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
        • Physical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, equipment use):May have occasion to move parts up to 50 lbs.
          • Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, worksurfaces, exposure):Position is based in a Service Center and office environment withapproximately 70% of the time in the machine shop, welding area orassembly area.
