Scientist II- Genotyping Optimization

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Scientist II- Genotyping Optimization, are to:

  • Design and execute experiments for high throughput method development, including but not limited to: DNA isolation and purification of various plant samples, assay development, PCR optimization, Library Creation and Sequencing;
  • Collaborate across teams to transition benchtop experiments to processes that can be scaled for high throughput workflows;
  • Solve complex problems by requiring original thinking, deductive reasoning, and the application of scientific principles to the design and interpretation of experiments;
  • Communicate and interpret the results of experiments, cost/benefit analysis, and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Demonstrate ability to modify communication based on audience;
  • Ability to work well independently, and in a matrix team environment across geographies;
  • Keep abreast of new science and technological development and exploit them to continuously improve functional area capabilities;
  • Foster a team based approach to research, sharing knowledge with others;
  • Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools.

    your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values. more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

    Required qualifications:

    • Master of Science with at least five years of experience or a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Plant Science or related field;
    • Demonstrated proficiency in method optimization specifically in the areas of PCR, assay development, primer/probe design, Real Time PCR, Library Creation and Sequencing;
    • Strategic, innovative, with demonstrated competencies in problem-solving and analytical thinking;
    • Programming experience with laboratory automation equipment, liquid handling knowledge;
    • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems;
    • Six Sigma/LEAN knowledge.
