It all begins with you.Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. - Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital. - We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.This position is within the Wholesale Control Third Party Risk Management Team. This senior leader will be responsible for leading and developing a team of operational risk professionals focused on driving consistency, efficiency and quality across a spectrum of third party activities while managing all aspects of third party service provider risk. Reporting to the Group Head of Third Party Risk Management Program (GTPO), this role will be a key contributor to the Third Party Control strategy for how risk is managed across the Wholesale lines of business (LoB). This position will be responsible for collaborating extensively with the Wholesale business teams and across risk platforms in order to effectively reduce or eliminate risk resulting from service provider engagements and relationships. A key aspect of the role will be to identify inherent and emerging high-risk activities associated with third party service providers, effective report, escalate and remediate risk owned by the businesses.Position Responsibilities--- Establish strong partnership with Supplier Management Center of Excellence (COE), TPRM-COE, Independent Risk Management(IRM), Enterprise Information Risk Management (EIS), and other key stakeholders and business partners--- Provide subject matter expertise in third party risk management for Wholesale lines of business--- Establish clear roles and responsibilities between the engagement managers, relationship managers, technology owners and executive sponsors and ensuring key service providers have aligned executive sponsors and business ownership--- Leverage best practices that exist and expand to ensure consistent vendor management practices enabling appropriate reporting and visibility to leaders of the status, risks and issues in our third party relationships. ---- Identify opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness as well as cost savings by optimizing supplier/vendor spend and cross-group utilization.--- Work closely with operational risk for resolution of complex questions, assessing user needs, interpreting third-party risk requirements, directing the completion of annual certification and assessments, coordinating risk acceptances, etc.--- Ensure regular vendor reviews as determined by risk level--- Ensure the right visibility to high-risk relationships and ensure performance, SLA, issues and exit strategies as needed are formulated.--- Manage communication and escalation with our vendor partners on requirements and issues.--- Provide subject matter expertise as it relates to program requirements, policy changes, or changes to Third Party Management methodology and tools--- Interact with multiple levels of the organization and provide an outstanding level of customer service and exhibit professionalism at all times. ---- Develop and maintain relationships with and maintain direct engagement with the Control Executive teams, Business Management and Independent Risk teams to promote a strong operational risk culture--- Active engagement in key LoB risk governance routines inclusive of strategic planning sessions, governance committees and business reviews--- Consulting with business and risk partners to ensure that business needs are understood and supported appropriately--- Address any issues identified through appropriate corrective action plans and escalation protocolsTeam members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 8+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 4+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
  • 3+ years of management experience

      • Meaningful knowledge of an enterprise risk management framework, including: - risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance
      • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders across the organization, which includes virtual, matrixed leadership experience
      • Strategic leadership skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end to end risk management solutions
      • Strong understanding of corporate and/or business policies, and programs
      • Demonstrated professional ability that embodies the Wells Fargo Vision and Values and leadership competencies
      • Proven ability to scope, manage and execute complex risk management initiatives with high quality and timely delivery
      • Flexibility and business savvy to navigate a complex, highly-matrixed organization
      • Experience providing reporting and updates to senior-level management
      • Requires a developed sense for strong relationship management, and can exert influence
      • Be articulate and possess a demonstrated capability to organize, scope and execute complex initiatives across a complex, heavily matrixed corporate environment
      • Demonstrated ability to effectively drive and lead organizational change
      • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and organizational skills
      • Able to communicate at multiple levels ranging from individual contributors to senior managers, in both risk and business settings
      • Demonstrated successful communication, leadership, organization, and influence management skills.
      • Leadership skills including the ability to influence effectively in a matrix environment
      • Deep understanding of operational risk; particularity related third party risk, and the third party SOR (TRIMS)
      • Experience with international and regional banking products and services
