- Provides teaching, supervision and evaluation of student
learning experiences.
- Provides individual advisement and guidance for intellectual
and professional development of students.
- Develops, implements and revises course content in a limited
subject area.
- Serves as a mentor to new or inexperienced faculty as
appropriate.
- Participates in scholarly activities (e.g., grant writing,
research, college projects, publications, creative teaching
strategies).
- Participates in and seeks out quality improvement
opportunities.
- Contributes to policy formation for Mercy College and/or
program/course.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.Minimum Knowledge,
Skills And Abilities Required
- Master's degree in Nursing.
- Two years' experience in academic teaching or professional
experience.
- Valid and current Iowa Nursing License.
- Demonstrated ability in managing, leading or training
others.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize appropriate, varied and
innovative classroom/clinical/field teaching strategies.
- Demonstrated experience in project development and
management.
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- Doctorate preferred.PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: (Constant =

- Sight, hearing, talking, sitting, and the use of gross and fine

feeling.Physical Demand Requirements
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible
amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg
controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for
sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time.Visual Acuity
Requirements
- Requires usage of computer terminal, extensive reading and
deciphering of detailed materials and recognition of persons at a
distance.Intellectual/Emotional Requirements
- Ability to adapt to constant change from one task to another,
possibly of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or
composure.
- Ability to perform under stress when confronted with an unusual
or emergency situation or in situations when working speed and
sustained attention is crucial.
- Must function efficiently under demanding time frames.
- Ability to maintain a high standard of courtesy and cooperation
in dealing with students and co-workers despite the stress of the
office work environment.Working Conditions
